George Douglas Wimer, my loving grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2009. Grandpa was born to Ruth Clegg and George Jacob Wimer in Heber City, UT on July 5, 1926 in the same house and same room where his mother was born. He graduated from Ventura Jr. College where he loved and played football. He met Ilene Earl in Berkeley, CA and they were married September 4, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Grandpa served in the US Army from 1946-1948 and was stationed in Japan. He then attended USC graduating in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Grandpa worked for North American Rockwell for 30 years and retired after a successful and rewarding career. Grandpa loved his family, friends, his home in Heber, his pets, TC, live steam trains and many other interests. He had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He lived a rich and fulfilling life. He was very loved and will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Ilene; daughter, Shelley (Chris) Dahlin; Grandchildren: Ryan (Brenna) Ball, Cameron (Candy) Ball, and Jocelyn Ball; Great-Grandchildren: Rylie, Rune, Kharma and Sophie; his son, Tracy (Jill) Wimer; Grandchildren: Brittany, Dallin (Aubrey), Missy and Landon Wimer.
I love my grandfather! He lived a good life and I've learned so many things about him that are so amazing! He truly loved the Gospel. He had kept all of his ordinance records, from baptism to becoming a High Preist. He loved his wife Ilene with all his heart. He would do anything for her. He was always adament about men treating their wifes' like princesses. I can only hope to find someone to marry as incredible as he was. I will miss him dearly. I'm so thankful for the knowledge that I have of the plan of Salvation. I love you Grandpa.
Til We Meet Again...
